Christmas Time in Little Hollywood

We had a great holiday party this year with about 70 people turning out. A cozy 74 degrees at sunset was welcomed by everyone given the dreadful conditions reported up north. Our volunteers outdid themselves with the decorations and setup and our members brought all sorts of awesome food for the buffet. There was enough delicious glazed spiral ham to feed an army! Some home made dishes included: Texas Chili, potato salad, baked beans, mac & cheese, sausage & kraut, Pierogis, ... and the desert were to die for: pumpkin cheese cake, carrot cake, cookies, pies and all sorts of holiday treats including Jill and Sharon's incredible ginger bread desert community. As awesome as the food was, the best part was just getting together and sharing holiday talks with our neighbors, old and new. Yea, we put dorky name tags on, but it makes it easier to mingle with folks you may only see a couple times a year and getting to know each other makes us all more rich.

We added a little curbside appeal this year. Chelle's gorgeous heron, all litup and Christmasy, for everyone to see. What a nice holiday touch to the neighborhood.

Jill and Sharon's Gingerbread community was very awesome!

Paula Schroeder from Aging Matters graciously stopped by and thanked us for our support of her incredible charity organization. The organization has several great initiatives for helping our seniors including the popular Meals on Wheels project. Our generous Little Hollywood members donated gift cards that went directly to our local disadvantaged seniors as part of a local Holiday luncheon. It's an honor for Little Hollywood to support such a good cause. Thanks to Paula for coming by to see us. The Seniors wrote Little Hollywood dozens of thank you cards. Several are shown below. You know sometimes people give to charities and they never know where their money goes. The beauty of this charity technique that Mary Grace and Paula have put together is that we know that all the money is going to needy people and they truly appreciate it.
